AHATS Wildlife Observation Area

The view of the lake is now obstructed by trees. There's a better view walking along the road just south of there. The info signs have all fallen over due to rot. Some are not readable. Some boards on the bridge could use attention, too.

Right off of Lexington is AHATs overlooking a large open marshland. Large unobstructed views are great for bird watching. The platform is an old bridge that is 100 feet from the parking space. Open during normal Ramsey county Park hours - Dawn to dusk.

I enjoy the solitude. There is upkeep needed. The signs are dilapidated, falling down. The parking isn't cleared during the winter. It's really a shame. It's such a lovely little spot

No longer much a view over the lake, which is kind of the point of the area, because of tree growth. Had to spot the waterbirds I was looking for through tiny openings in the foliage. Open from a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset, not for the hours given.

Although the car park and entrance is quite easy to overlook, it's worth coming to this AHATS wildlife observation area. The best months are probably July and August. Best regards from Germany!
