A few months ago, we started to smell a musty odor in our house. I had a handful of contractors look at the crawl space to determine the source of the smell. One heating and air company said I needed all new duct work. Another said I did not need any duct work replaced. I had three insulation companies look at it and it turns out the smell was coming from some wet insulation caused by a since-replaced water heater. Chris also noted some evidence of past animal activity under the house which also led to some of the smell. Chris suggested I replace the insulation, fog the crawlspace with a disenfectant and add a new vapor barrier. So far that approach seems to have done the trick. We met Chris when he left the military and he was working with his brother's company. We found to be very hard working, professional and well mannered. When we needed to have our home insulated I remembered that Chris started his own company and gave him a call to come and give us a quote. He was just as friendly and personable as we had remember when we met him. And we felt he gave a fair quote and we decided to work with Chris and did not even bother to get another quote. We had to postpone the job for a while but when we were able to start the project Chris honored the original quote that he gave us. I've had my attic insulated by this team and it was not fully acceptable and I don't think I'd recommend them; and don't plan on using them for my remaining insulation needs. They failed to complete specific quoted work, leaving a large gap uninsulated, which renders the $2900 worth of insulation installed inneffective. I reccomend people thoroughly review their quote and not actually accept the 'Home Energy Audit'. The owner came by and prepared the quote to insulate my attic, a 600 sqft area I am finishing into a livable bedroom. I found him personable and animated and my personal interaction with him is why I chose this company over competing quotes. They were great! Did a very thorough job of insulating the attic - in compliance with Duke Energy rebate plan. They were thorough but quick, better than the other 3 companies using more insulation than the others and at a lower price even though they provided radiant heat barriers for all knee wall and attic access doors. Communication was excellent with them and they handled all forms needed by Duke for getting my rebate.

Update: It is unfortunate that I've never been in court before so I was unprepared. Unlike you, I didn't bring an attorney with me. He did a great job of getting me flustered and distracted by rolling his eyes at me, being snarky, rude, and disrespectful - so job well done on that one. The written statements from other vendors were inadmissible - again, my fault for not knowing how court would work. As far as the calipers go, they are NOT for metal only. Calipers measure thickness of ANYTHING. This is you trying to avoid the truth AGAIN. The only problem with the calipers is that I wasn't allowed to bring them in, because they could be seen as a weapon.
