I had a very disappointing experience with American Home Shield. I filed a claim for a covered water heater under my ShieldGold plan. AHS dispatched their authorized contractor (United Air Temp), who quoted approximately $5,400. I was told $1,640 was non-covered, but neither AHS nor the contractor would provide a full itemized explanation despite repeated requests. The contractor also had no availability for at least a week, which would have left my home without hot water for nearly two weeks. I have small children, so this delay was not reasonable. To avoid prolonged loss of service, I chose a cash-in-lieu option and hired a licensed plumber. I paid $4,235 out of pocket, which was less than AHS’s own contractor’s estimate. Have had the warranty for a few years and this is the second claim (first claim where a repair vs replacement) I’ve ever filed. AHS has opted to send Sears technicians five times over the course of almost three weeks instead of covering the replacement of a washer that is likely a decade old. In the meantime we have had to take our clothes to the laundromat multiple times and I’m currently missing a family gathering. I called AHS to request a new contractor after the second visit when it was clear the contractor wasn’t competent; they never followed up and the technician during the current (5th) visit admits that he’s not familiar with washing machines. Update: the technician has said that yet another part is needed, and that a 6th appointment will be scheduled. Spoke with American Home

They lie. They literally won’t leave your house, until you give them a review. Multiple times my property management has used these clowns to do repairs on our rental. And multiple times these FRAUD artists told them they completed the job—they never even stepped foot on my property. I got ring camera logs to prove it. Don’t give them money. They will cheat you for MONTHS AND MONTHS, before not doing the repair. I’d rather hire HOMEDEPOT workers than this bull. 1 star reviews are too nice. We’d give 0 if we could.

Have spent months on the same problem with a Samsung dishwasher American home shield is incompetent. One technician got blood all over the unit and didn’t clean it up left the scene and claimed that he had completed the job and it was never fixed. Still waiting on a technician to fix three months later. Don’t waste your time with this company waste of money waste of time.
