Anchorage Square Garage

The parking lot would not let anyone leave. The woman attending the garage said this was not her job and did not work there but was asking everyone to pay more after they had already prepaid. There were about 100 cars trying to leave and it wasn’t even remotely busy. On top of all this when I went to go to the pre payment machine the barrier slammed down on my shoulder. It is very dangerous! We were overcharged an extra $12 for the time that it took to get out the garage. This company is a disaster. We prepaid before we left, but since it was an hour waiting in line we were unlawfully charged for an extra hour. This company basically holds everyone hostage.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, Today, the afternoon of Saturday December 27th , I parked and came back to my car in less than two hours and surprisingly, the sensors of the exit of the garage were not working holding over 100 cars HOSTAGE FOR ALMOST TWO HOURS, backed up four floors, yet the incompetent staff decided to do nothing but record and argue offering everyone trying to go home no solutions, thank god some great men that had been waiting with the rest of us for almost two hours, helped keep the sensors open helping get all the cars out , while the staff kept trying to BLOCK CARS FROM LEAVING and FORCING THEM TO PAY THE MAXIMUM RATE even though most people weren't here for more than 1-2 hours. If leaving no stars is an option, I would do that. We reserved parking through Spot Hero and paid for it. When we got there, we followed the instructions and scanned the ticket. It let us in, we parked and when we were trying to leave they charged us the full amount of the parking time, as if we did not have a reservation with Spot Hero. So I advice that you don't use Spot Hero for this site, and their regular prices are just too high and have a lot of other options in the area.

We signed up for the Alcatraz tour and needed to park close enough to Pier 33. Most parking garages have terrible reviews so we were very worried. Our tour started on Sunday at 8:45 am and some of the garages near the Pier were closed. This one was open at 7:30 am. It was easy to enter and park. I got into a well lit, very visible spot by other drivers coming up on the ramp hoping there will be no "brake-in" and left nothing at all in the car. No coats, sunglasses, charger wires, not even a drinking bottle to justify any interest. There is a phone number to text to pay for the parking spot, which was numbered. That was smooth, except you have to know how long you want to park 5 hours, 7 hours etc. We paid about $32 for 7 hours giving us enough time for the cruise and walking around the are

It took me 45 minutes of sitting in a line of cars to get out of this garage. It cost me another $12 for the privilege of sitting in the traffic their security guard needlessly created
