Big Prune for Antique and Restoration

I had a piece repaired I had saved for many months we spent a lot of $$$ on. Unfortunately one of the legs became loose and needed repair (vintage piece) and I called this shop for repair. When getting it repaired he dented the top when he dropped the china hutch top on top of the bottom part of the hutch. He said it was no big deal and wouldn’t hurt the value… it was a small dent that was left but a dent nevertheless in a nearly mint condition piece of furniture that was over 60 years old. Ironically more damage done by the repair man than in all the years of its existence. He then proceeded to offer to fill with a soft wax for the blemish he just created as well as other spots I asked him to fix. Quite frankly I could have done this myself. While in Belgium, some 20 years ago on TDY, I came into the possession of a beautiful travel decanter that was made in London, dated 1872. I always kept it stored away because I was afraid of who to get to restore it. The leather and wood needed some tender loving care. I brought it to Paul to have him look at it. I trusted him to restore my piece so to not lose its original integrity. Paul did an amazing job! It came out more beautiful than expected! You can tell he took care in every detail! Paul did an excellent job with my grandfather's childhood rocking chair. He removed all the varnish from the chair and then restained it. He fixed the broken leg of the chair as requested. Overall it looks much better than when I first bought the piece in. He was very communicative and kept me up to date via text message on all of the changes and decisions for the chair and gave a very fair price. I would definitely recommend Paul to others looking for antique wood furniture restoration, and want to support a local artisan.

I cannot recommend this company enough! Boulos was so knowledgeable and super friendly and communicative with updates/pictures through this whole project. Also very reasonable pricing! This was my husband’s Nana’s vanity from the 50s that we wanted to redo for our first baby girl being born soon, so it was very special to us. He came to the house to pick up the item, took multiple layers of paint and varnish off, sanded everything to perfection, came back to the house with a piece of the vanity to match the new stain to the other furniture in the nursery, worked with me over text to make the piece absolute perfect (even though the piece ended up being made of 4 different types of wood, making it a task to match all the stain), and also put on a special polish for us.
