I had evidence of an old iron water line coming into my home in Somerville seeping and the city recommended that I have the water line from the sidewalk to my basement replaced with a new copper line immediately before it failed. The office manager at CJ Doherty, Alex, came out the morning after I called and patiently walked me through the work that would need to be done and did a great job setting my expectations as to how they'd approach the job and what could happen if it went sideways. They squeezed me in the next week and had the work done in half a day. They were able to pull the new line through while they pulled the old line out which prevented needing to dig up my porch. UPDATE 11/11/21 - A warning to all GC's and CSS's. Hire only if your goal is to go to war with the abutters and neighbors. Not once now, but twice their crew tore down overhead telco & cable lines while digging. The first time they didn't bother to tell anyone until the end of the day. And did so only when approached by the GC. This left 5 neighbors with no services for 3 days. Crew members were unabashed, arrogant and confrontational when approached. Which seems to fit with the FB post by someone who was almost run off the road by two of their trucks. In todays interaction with the owner he was threatening to cut a Verizon fiber optic cable at another location. Pandemic woes aside, it is safe to say they are not very good planners.
