Great little hike with beautiful scenic views. You can choose your own distance and turn back whenever you’re ready, which makes it perfect for any pace. It’s fun watching the rock climbers along the way, and it’s an awesome way to kick off your Red Rock Canyon visit.

Calico Hills, located within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just west of Las Vegas, is a striking natural landscape known for its vibrant red and orange sandstone formations. Really cool place to check out! The colors of the rocks are insane — deep reds and oranges that look even better in person than in photos. Easy to get to, plenty of spots to pull over and take it all in. Feels like you’re on another planet. Great spot for a chill drive or a short walk to enjoy the views. Super glad we made the stop — would 100% recommend if you’re anywhere near Vegas.

Winding trail, hiking can be as flat as the road and can go up the rocks, around and down. Great closer views of these orange rocks, and fun for the pets because they are allowed. There are also some several trails that merges out of the Calico 1.

This is the first overlook on the scenic loop. It has a parking lot/area. It is about as close as you will get on the loop to the Calico red rock outcrop. It is one of the lower elevated outlooks.
