According to Bridge, US Ecology's most recent violation notice for the 1923 Fredrick St Detroit plant was issued as the result of an April 2023 inspection where EGLE found four violations. The violations included damage to the vaults that store hazardous waste, and the presence of liquid in secondary containers in place to contain and alert company officials to potential leaks from the vaults. If liquid is found in the secondary containers, it means the storage vaults have failed and could be leaking to groundwater. The notice also included a violation for failure to notify EGLE that the company has been aware of liquid in the secondary containers for several years.

Edit: The company contacted me about my concerns and there was a good dialogue. I feel more comfortable working with them on the next opportunity. Original Post: Many excessive fees beyond disposal pricing and I feel misled. Ask for your price quotes to include all fees, or you might be in for a nasty surprise. I went back to the agreement I signed and the fees are mentioned in fine print, but without any guidelines on amounts... My invoice came in about 30% higher than expected/quoted. Waste Treatment fee.. okay that is what was quoted, State of IL treatment fee.. okay, that is relatively small, then I get nailed with a large "Energy, Insurance, and Recovery Fee"... what the hell is that and why isn't that amount included on price estimates? it was almost 10% added on to the invoice.
