City of Athens Recycle Center

Great recycle center, I use every week, I bring our recyclables, my used vehicle oil, dead car batteries, and from time to time old lawn equipment………..for those complaining about never open, hours are posted and please try to remember this is provided by the CITY, ie government so they do follow most federal holidays, as well as snow days like the schools, a few of the employees they’ve had through there are worse than others but at least it’s a place to try to keep some things out of a landfill, an easy call to city hall and they’ll tell you if they’re open, the landfill out hwy 30 also has recycling available btw

To the reviewer complaining that they are never open, their hours are posted at their location, online, and here on Google. Of course it would be nice if they were open 24 hours a day, but they aren't, so just go when they are. I go 1 to 2 times a week, and have never found them closed when they should be open....Staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. You can bring your batteries, oil, antifreeze, plastics 1 and 2, aluminum, paper, cardboard, glass and much more-just check the website.

Great way to recycle everything, very helpful

I've lived in many different places and this is by far the best recycling facility. The area is clean and safe. The employees are helpful and kind (rare for any city or government job). They've always been reliable and open according to their hours. I'm happy to have this facility in my city!

They are never open. I drive over thirty minutes to drop off my recycling and most of the time they aren't open. And I go at their posted open times, but yet the gate is locked. I've had to haul all my recycling back home and try again another day. I don't live or work in Athens, so it's such an inconvenience. I've lost count how many times this has happened. Four years ago, this place used to be great, always open and did one stream recycling. Then they changed for the worse.
