Cumberland Street Garage

Very tight pulling in to your parking ticket. Watched several people scrape the sides of their vehicles on the concrete post. Definitely not for BIG vehicles. You will not fit. Not enough handicap parking. I had to stalk an old couple for my spot.

Park at street parking rates 24/7 ( but you're better off finding free street parking after 6pm). Lot is pretty uneven on every floor, and maybe a cause for concern if you have a tall car/truck. Especially going up between floors. Garage is laid out like a rectangle in a rectangle. In the inner rectangle you can drive up a floor. The outer rectangle goes down. Don't pass the inner turn if you can't find parking if you're on the first floor, or you may be stuck leaving the lot and coming back in again. Pull in, press a button, get a ticket. Walk out and go about your trip. When you come back, put your ticket in the pay machine and then you have 15 minutes to pull out and leave the parking lot before further charges accrue. Has a bathroom, with soap! What more can you ask for?

This is one of the best parking garages I have been to. Great place to leave your car before heading out into Charleston. It is in a great location to be a center point for everything. It is easy to find and located in such a way that committing the crime of jay walking (not that I would ever do that) to cross the street isn’t such a dangerous task. The best part about the garage is the bathrooms! They were clean, not crowded, and a potentially saving grace to the full bladdered traveler. I parked all day for $15, When other garages are way higher in price. Also, this is a great garage of you need a meeting place or resting place to get a break from all the walking. Highly recommend!

My hotel suggested this garage as the best place to park in downtown and they were not wrong. Plenty of spaces, covered (my car interior did not overheat) and a reasonable daily max price. (I spent more $ for 2 hours at a lot nearby) Plus Sunday mornings are free if you want to go to one of the many churches. There was an attendant on duty both times I was there. Much nicer than an app.

We had to wait in line 20+ minutes to get out of the garage, then they charged us an extra fee for not getting out in time because we had to wait in line!
