Decks! by Home Specialists

We invited Denis (Decks by home specialists) twice to two of our houses in different time. First project was to build new staircase to our sunroom. We were very pleased with his excellent knowledge and an excellent job. He did finish project on time as promised. Next year we invited him to our rental house built in 1993 out of code and about to collapse deck. He again did an amazing job. He is a very nice person to work with. Denis takes the time to explain everything what he does. Definitely recommend him for everybody.

Denis is outstanding ! His work is superior. Showed up on time, finished the job better than expected, and cleaned everything up perfectly afterward! Communication was top notch and he is definitely trustworthy. Highly recommend!!

I'm going to try to keep this as straightforward and brief as possible. In the end we did get a semi decent finished deck, however, if we could go back in time I would never choose to go through what we went through again. The stress and frustration over the past several months was not worth what we ended up with. I would not recommend hiring this company unless you have a never ending supply of patience and don't really care how long it takes for your project to be finished. At one point Denis left our project sitting for 6 weeks untouched. Our backyard was a mess and getting ahold of him to try to get a timeframe for when it would be finished was nearly impossible. Dennis came out to give us an estimate on deck repairs and provided us a thorough approach to each of the issues. He was honest and did not think he was the best person to address the deck issues and provided several solutions. We are very appreciative of his time and transparency.

Unfortunately, our experience working with Denis on our deck project was similar to others who have shared here, and on other review sites. We signed a contract with Denis in February of 2023 to tear down and rebuild our existing deck. By May of 2024, (445 days from when we originally signed, and 400+ days from the original estimated completion date), all Denis delivered was partially-completed framing for the new deck. We consistently dealt with inadequate communication, (and often total unresponsiveness), to our inquiries, concerns, or requests for updates regarding the project's progress over the course of our agreement with Denis.
