I installed the Dek Drain under-deck drainage system following the company’s instructions, expecting it to keep the area beneath my deck dry. After the DEK Drain and Trex boards were installed, I discovered during the first rain that water leaked through each screw and hidden fastener. When I contacted Dek Drain, they sent M-1 adhesive sealant caulk to seal every screw. Later, during the first snow, the Dek Drain panels became blocked by snow and ice, creating an ice dam effect that trapped and diverted moisture. The staff worked to help me understand what I needed and how to install it myself. My “kit” included more joist and ledger cap material than I needed and plenty of flashing. The hardest part of installing is avoiding wrinkles, but once I figured that out it went really well and our patio is dry under the deck!

After doing some research online, I chose DEK Drain over Trex because it seemed like it would be a more durable choice. Ordering the material was very easy and just took one email. After the material showed up promptly, I was surprised by how much more durable the material was than it even seemed online. Installation went smoothly and I have no doubts that it will perform just as well in 50 years as it does now. If you have a walk out basement, this product is a must and is well worth the money. It has completely transformed our patio and was the best part of my deck renovation!
