Downtown Parking Garage

The parking garage was well illuminated, however some trash were visible inside. The price was ok for a couple hours while we went to the Hippodrome for a play. There was a strong odor of urine on the staircase and surrounding areas. The city needs to pressure wash the entire parking garage.

Their ticketing system told me “no ticket” and the gate was open. Similar to other garages, I figured there must be time parameters for payment. As it was early and I was reporting for jury duty. I was excused at the court house door. Returned to my vehicle 7mins later. The entry gate was still open. I was told I had to pay $40 for not having a ticket. I explained what happened and was told “they don’t care, they can’t verify my story. So pay $40.” I’m sure they do this often and it’s a great way to force people to pay extra.

The pricing is not listed outside the garage. Paid $20 to park for 4.5 hours. Makes absolutely no sense when the Southwest Downtown Parking is 0.3 miles away and would cost $2 for the same amount of time. This garage isn't even nice inside and there is no security. Not sure who is even keeping this garage in business.

The garage is unattended so if the ticket gate is not working I would not park there as they will likely hit you up for $40 to get out. The Hippodrome validated our parking receipt so we got $3 off. There were plenty of spots available which was good because they are very narrow. Maximum density is good for revenue but not for paint on your doors. Gainesville needs to learn the lesson from other smaller cities. If you provide parking, visitors will come and help you revitalize your city center.

Charged 13 dollars to park 2.5 hours no posted cost this is illegal and they need to be shutdown.
