Elder's Ace Hardware-Florence

Purchased some items for a small repair project. Turns out we didn't need them. Went to the store to return the items in their original, unopened condition, and they REQUIRED my driver's license and phone number. I had the original receipt!! Plus it was less than a week from the date of purchase. Even though the back of the receipt says, "We will fix it, replace it or refund your purchase. Your receipt is all you need* *returns must be made within 30 days of purchase" , be prepared for a hassle when you try to return something.

Went to store looking for a pair of work boots. Got there at 1645 and look around in the boot section. I turned and asked the young ladies at the register could I have some assistance once I found the pair that I was interested in. I then waited 15 minutes only for no one to ever come over and assist me. While waiting I see several associates walking through the store but no one ever came to assist me. Meanwhile white customers were gladly met with conversations and smiles. I once again asked the young ladies at the register was anyone coming to assist me and she replied that she was acknowledged when she called for help but not sure what was going on.

Purchased a vest for a gift. The vest did not fit and the store did not have the size I needed. Tried to return the item with the receipt within the 30 days that the receipt states. I was told since the item was on sale I was not allowed to return it. No where on the receipt does that state that. Inside the store there was a hand written signed that stated “no clearance items” can be returned. Fine, the item I purchased was not on clearance, but was still told I could not return the item. I emailed two times and I have had no response to either. The stated receipt’s return policy is not followed.

This is a perfect store for anything from household maintenance supplies to outdoor hunting and fishing and pretty much anything in between! The customer service is absolutely incredible. It feels like there is an employee on every isle that is excited to help!

Was going to make this long but I feel it would end up being too long. I just want to say thank you to the incredible team that was working on September 28th 2024 (1 day post hurricane Helene). After calling over 50+ places surrounding looking for a generator yall had one left and held it for me. Made it from Columbia to your store before yall closed in under and hour. This staff helped me get all the supplies i needed to be able to help my family get through the next 2 weeks of living off only a generator until power lines were fixed. From the bottom of my heart and from my family. Thank you!
