Everglades Elevated Boardwalk

Visiting the Everglades Elevated Boardwalk was an absolutely incredible experience. The walkway is beautifully designed, very well maintained, and offers a unique way to explore the Everglades while being surrounded by nature. The views are stunning, and it’s the perfect place to see wildlife up close — birds, alligators, and the true beauty of Florida’s natural environment. The elevated path makes it easy and comfortable for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or even solo. It’s peaceful, educational, and a must-see spot for anyone looking to experience the Everglades in a safe and memorable way. Highly recommend!

Beautiful spot to watch a sunset! The board walk is very well built with multiple elevations and an observation tower. You could see for miles. There was plenty of parking, an information center with vending machines and rest rooms. There is also a small covered playground. It was nice to see so many families outside enjoying the nature, spying alligators and birds and sharing a beautiful sunset. Loved it!

The newly upgraded Everglades Elevated Boardwalk at the Mile Marker 35 rest area is an a must-stop and far exceeds the expectations of a typical highway pit stop. The boardwalk itself allows you to walk right over the marsh, where you can see wildlife; we did see a baby gator lounging. The area is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. There a lot of people out with their dogs. The educational center contains small displays and bathrooms that need regular upkeep. It’s the perfect place to spend 30 minutes stretching your legs and soaking in the Florida wilderness for free. Just be sure to bring a hat snd sunglasses because it has very little shade under the midday sun but definitely beautiful at sunset.

Did I drive out of my way to come here? Yes. Was I disappointed? Absolutely not. I had no expectations except to enjoy some fresh air with friends and enjoy a beautiful sunset. It’s an elevated boardwalk in the Florida Everglades with restrooms, a playground, and vending machines. Would be a great spot to stretch your legs on a long trip. I loved that they made the boardwalk accessible so the stairs weren’t the only option. I couldn’t believe how crazy busy it got closer to sunset so just be prepared to be around a lot of people. We had a blast and it was fun to explore something new!

Everglades Elevated Boardwalk is one of the best rest stop area in the state. Plan on taking at least a 30 minute stop to walk the entire boardwalk area, both ground level and on the different elevated walkways. If your patient, you will probably get to see an alligator. Nevertheless, the amount of trees, plants and water vegetation is amazing. I have also seen alligators by the airboat ramp just east of the boardwalk trail.
