Fired Up Pottery

I've been here twice and had an amazing time both visits! The staff are very good at knowing when you need help and when you'd like some space. At one point, an employee saw me having trouble picking glaze colors and spent a considerable amount of time helping me pick the perfect pallet for a gradient. I also like the wide variety of materials they offer. There are the usual brushes most similar places have, but also writing bottles, art sponges, natural sponges, string, lace, painter's tape, and likely a dozen other things I didn't notice. You are free to experiment with whatever is on hand! I recommend showing up early, or you'll need to plan for the possibility of being put on a wait list. We came there for my moms birthday and it was definitely a memorable experience! Studio was able to take us as a walk in, same day with no wait time which was so great and highly appreciated 🩷 they had so many different ceramics to chose from with reasonable prices. When we finished painting, we were given an option to pick up our pieces or to have them shipped for an additional fee after they will glaze and fire them for us. We loved our experience with this small cute studio and highly recommend to stop by if you happen to be in Maddison, WI. Cannot wait to get our pieces!🥰✨

We walked in and were placed on a waitlist, and were told the wait would be about an hour, which was completely fine. We left and returned after an hour and were seated, then instructed to choose any clay pieces we wanted to paint. After selecting our pieces, we waited for further guidance but no one checked on us. When a staff member with short hair and glasses walked toward us, I waved to get her attention, but she walked past without acknowledging us. She proceeded to assist other guests while completely disregarding us. Her behavior came across as extremely rude and unprofessional. Due to this experience, we will not be returning. Personally, I would not recommend this place.

I've gotta be honest, I used to love this place, but things have gone downhill. We just picked up some high fire pieces (they take a month and weren't ever told that btw), and the color isn't anything like what we picked out. Firing it wrong can result in this. Over $100 spent to do this on my son's birthday in September and they look nothing like expected. Mine was supposed to be blue and a coral color on top. It's definitely red and off white. My daughter's base color was slightly different than mine and turned out just a slightly darker off white. My son's bowl at least has color? Anyway. I'd find somewhere else to go if you want fun, high fire bowls and mugs you can actually use, if you're hoping to take home items with colors somewhat close to what you were expecting.

This is a great place for mom, dad, grandma or grandpa to take the kids to have some quiet family art time together. I have memories of painting ceramics with my grandma, and now my girls have similar memories and experiences, thanks to Fired Up pottery. We have mugs, Christmas ornaments, plates, and piggy banks with our own personal touches added. Plan a few hours, and enjoy the kids...they figure it out quickly...and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.
