Our bathroom remodel went further than we originally planned. Once demo started, Guy and his team replaced the old green board with proper cement backer board in all the wet areas and added a waterproof membrane before any tile was installed. The shower pan was rebuilt with the correct slope instead of trying to reuse what was there. We chose large format porcelain tile, and they dry laid pieces first to plan the layout so cuts wouldn’t land in awkward spots. The grout lines are consistent and the corners are clean, not overloaded with caulk. They also upgraded the plumbing valves behind the wall instead of keeping the old ones. The quartz vanity top was templated after cabinets were set, so it fits tight to the wall without gaps. It feels solid because it actually is solid underneath.

I spent most of the build watching the ADU come together from my kitchen window, so I got to see every stage whether I wanted to or not. At first it was mostly trenching and pipes going into the ground, which didn’t look like progress but obviously had to happen before anything else. When framing started, the structure came up fast and suddenly there was a full set of walls and a roof where there had been nothing. Inside guy and his team kept the layout simple so it wouldn’t feel crowded, using vinyl plank flooring throughout and a compact kitchenette with enough storage to actually be practical. The project that made the biggest difference in our house was converting the unused formal dining room into a home office. They built a full wall of custom shelving and cabinets so everything from books to office equipment has a place to go. Instead of standard shelves, the units were built to fit the exact width of the wall so there are no gaps on the sides. They also added extra outlets along the desk area and installed better lighting overhead so the space actually works for long workdays.
