I recently moved back to the Chapel Hill ranch home in which I’d raised my children. I’d rented the home out for 27 years. While staying within a modest budget my home needed a major overhaul and update. I hired Jay Hallan after he’d completed work on my daughter’s home. We are thrilled with the results. I give Jay Hallan top marks for the following reasons: 1. Work was completed on time and on budget!! 2. Jay is an excellent listener. 3. I did not use an outside architect or designer. Jay and I worked together to plan. 4. The renovation included a 350sf screen porch with stone gas fireplace, four skylights and a ceiling fan. I am about to begin my fourth significant construction project using Hallen Construction. Each time the additions to my home have increased the value and made them significantly more enjoyable. In a previous home here in Durham, Jay helped add a large two-car garage to the house. A few years later we added a lovely screen porch off the kitchen. You my current home, Jay has built a three-car garage behind the house and we are about to start a second-story addition above the kitchen. He and the people who work with him to quality craftsmanship, share important ideas, and take the homeowners suggestions into consideration at all times. I cannot imagine using a different contractor for something as important as the comfort of my home.

Excellent eye for design and great craftsmanship! Jay built a sun room for us, and replaced some windows in 2019. Small business, but very responsive and professional.
