After the April 2022 (year has been corrected from original post) hailstorm in Salado, we entered into a contract for residential roof replacement with Knowater Roofing. Knowater provided an estimate of $25,500, but wanted a $15,000 down payment before materials were even delivered onsite. Owner assured us that it was not uncommon for roofing companies to request a 50% down payment. He was asking for a 60% down payment! After seeing that the Texas Department of Insurance website cautions consumers to be wary if a contractor asks for a large or full down payment, we should have run from this company then.
