It's an ok lot. But the sides are really tight. And they bait and switch you. The sign advertises $8 parking with validation from the Walters Art Museum. But apparently that's only for members - not regular visitors. So you get stuck paying $20 instead.
This stunning museum was amazingly FREE to enter and perfect for wandering on my own during a short weekend trip. They have a coat, umbrella check as well as amenities such as maps (showing 3 floors on view), and a small area on the first floor to purchase coffee and snacks. The location of the museum is close enough to walk to other downtown shops and restaurants. You’ll enjoy a wide variety of objects and a majority of rooms are interactive for children.
Roomy lot with plenty of room... The only thing is you have to leave your keys with the attendants, which we didn't know beforehand. When we returned our car was no longer in the same location as where we parked it...
So my wife and I decided to go to the Walters for a date in our anniversary last Saturday. We had both been years before, like 20 years in fact. I remember it being laid out very nicely and having a large ancient artifacts collection. Obviously the displays were different but the walk ability and amazing collections did not disappoint. My wife was especially captivated by “Mery” the mummy in the Egyptian section. I think my favorite piece was a fertility figurine dating from 5000bc! It was the oldest piece in the museum. The house attached is a beautiful side area that is truly architecture as art. Gorgeous mouldings and stairs. We walked around for 5.5 hours and had an amazing time.
BE AWARE: IF YOU ARE PARKING THERE THEY NEED TO KEEP YOUR KEY and IF YOU ARE STAYING PAST 7:00 pm YOU HAVE TO PICK UP YOUR KEY BY 7: • The lot is very convenient parking for The Walters Art Museum, but it’s not operated by the Museum. • The cost is reasonable (less than $19 for 8 1/2 hrs on 3/21/24). • You can reserve a space and pay online (a bit cumbersome but it works - have your times decided and your license # ready). • The attendants were friendly and accommodating. We didn’t know about the pick up time and weren’t told. We had paid for 1: to 9:30, with plans to walk 2 blocks to dinner. The evening attendant, Mr Dawit, was there until 9:. He called and texted me to let me know he would be closing, but my phone was on mute in the restaurant. Fortunately we finished dinner before 9:, f
