Exterior backdoor frame broken. I searched for contractors, and there are many, but in parallel I was buying the door I wanted. That is where I met Brandon who told me that I should not send him the money for the door until I have it. Immediately I thought, integrity. He mentioned he worked for Modern Exterior so I asked them to come over and quote the broken backdoor and a tuck under shed. The work on the backdoor was amazing! I am excited to see how my tuck under will look as it is the same crew. Integrity, quality of work, professional.

Follow up: After I posted the initial review, someone contacted me immediately and scheduled the work. We're very happy with the new roof. Definitely room for improvement with communication but no complaints with the work they performed for us. I don't know what's going on with this company. We were working with Rachel and she was great. We signed a contract and put down a 50% deposit 3 months ago and now total silence. I'm getting automated text and phone responses when I try to contact them and NO ONE will call me back. It would appear I got scammed out of a significant amount of money. Im so angry and frustrated.

Warning: this company is not paying their subcontractors, not fixing installation problems and is a scam. After the project was finished, we had laborers coming to our house saying they hadn’t been paid, threatening us, etc. We had obviously paid for the work, but Modern Exterior Systems was not paying their subs. We also had an issue with our siding installation. After weeks of trying to get ahold of the owner, he promised if would be fixed. Two months later, numerous unreturned calls, it is not fixed. I’m generally not someone to leave bad reviews, but this company should be avoided.

Date: 16 Feb 2026 * EDIT/UPDATE * So here we are in February. Still hearing every so often that the windows are, essentially, “on the way”. Still no windows. At this point, we really just want our money back…because this is beyond ridiculous. Oh also…if you think their address is still on baker rd in Minnetonka…think again. That office suite is as empty as Humpty Dumpty post-fall. I guess our $4,000+ couldn’t keep the lights on there for long. Just give us our money back. Seriously. Date: 7 Oct 2025 Buckle up for a long read. We also have a signed contract along with over $4,000 put down from earlier this spring on May 29th, for three windows. We haven't had any correspondence since. Whether it's a salesperson's fault, the owner's fault, or the neighbor's fault, it doesn't really matt

Modern Exterior Systems helped me get a new roof and gutters due to hail damage. It was a process/battle dealing with my insurance company, but they were able to guide me through the process. Rachel, Paul and Brandon were awesome to work with and are there anytime questions arise! I highly recommend you giving them a call with any exterior needs you may have.
