Since 1966 the Athertonville Church Bell in Hodgenville, Kentucky had called the community together for service on Sunday mornings. Most recently it had begun to develop a leak under the bell tower which threatened to close the church if it continued to worsen, and there wasn’t enough money in the church treasury to cover the repair.
