UPDATE Feb 11, 2026 - Called upon Oscar again, this time for a very tough job: We have six big stands of bamboo around our yard. They've been there for 25 years or so and gradually increased in size. I asked Oscar to cut them back so they'd be about 50% of their present diameter, as well as -- somehow -- take out all the dead culms. (There were many, amidst the tightly packed stands.) Finally, they'd need to stump-grind the large areas around the remaining stands where they cut off the bamboo culms. He gave me a very reasonable price for the job, which took his crew two very long days. When the bamboo dust settled, his crew had done exactly what we asked and what was promised, and cleaned up completely (including hauling away a TON of bamboo sawdust).
