Peter A Hunt Marine Surveyor

I hired Peter Hunt, on the recommendation of my broker, when I was interested in buying a 40-year-old Cape Dory 30 cutter. As soon as we got aboard the boat, I realized that Peter had a remarkable grasp of the inner workings, equipment and structure of Cape Dorys, in part because he had once worked for the company where he had been responsible for the interior woodwork. It turned out that he had, in fact, built some of the interior of the very boat I was looking at. His final report was as comprehensive as any survey I've seen, and was supported with almost 500 detail photographs. Peter Hunt did a fine job for me.

I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Mr. Hunt's survey. I live in south Jersey and was serious about a 20' I/O in Mass. but didn't want to drive all that way for nothing. I called Mr. Hunt. His survey was so precise and through. He photoed every defect and scratch, looked at everything, even did compression tests and exhaust temps port and starboard. He emailed the full report with all the pics, sent the hardcopy and then phoned me to discuss. I felt I knew the boat so well there was no need to drive to look at it. When it was delivered it was exactly as he wrote. I have had it for several seasons and there have been no surprises. I never would have inspected it as well as he did, saved me much time and money.
