Pikes Peak Lookout on Rampart Road

I recommend a vehicle with high ground clearance. I did not need 4WD but if the roads where any worse probably required. Beautiful drive and amazing views

The best lookout in the Colorado Springs area. The views are incredible, and you can see everything from the pikes peak highway tollgate to the top of the mountain, and downtown COS in the distance and traffic on 24. It's incredibly quiet and peaceful, as hardly anyone makes it this far. The road is decent, with a few rocky spots if coming up from Garden of the Gods, but any high clearance vehicle will make it. The road from Woodland Park is in better condition. Access is limited, since Rampart Range Road does close in winter.

I was able to get some beautiful pics. It is always a nice place to stop & stretch your legs, go for a hike, smell the fresh air, let the dogs out or just sit in the quiet & meditate!

This is an unbeleivable overlook of Pikes Peak on Rampart Range Road. The road, overlook and various other points were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1838. In the valley below, you can see hiway 24 winding through Ute Pass. You can't get the hiway and the peak together in the same shot. Even with the smoke, it was awe inspiring. And I'm 3rd gen local. You can come up 105 the Mt Herman rd. Or come through Woodland Park. Both are nice drives. Mt. Herman is rougher, but quite do-able without 4wd.
