Finding a reliable and trustworthy company to service our oil-fired hydronic boiler has been difficult to say the least. I have dealt with multiple oil companies that also proclaim to be HVAC service companies. However, when it comes down to proper boiler maintenance they are either misinformed or, worse, dishonest due to a clear conflict of interest. After years of research, I finally found two companies in the Media area that are recognized within the industry. I got bids for boiler replacement from both, and I chose to hire Jamie and the Pompetti team. The bids came in very close but, during the quoting process, Jamie demonstrated his willingness to consider and discuss all available options to make sure that I was making the right decision for my family and our home. July 3rd, our outdoor a/c unit stopped cooling the house. My husband & I looked and found a critter's nest by the wiring with some chewed wires. I emailed Pompetti for service after the July 4th holiday weekend. I followed up with a call on Monday and was politely and quickly helped by the office staff saying a tech would be out later. Jamie arrived, listened to everything I had checked & done, quickly repaired the chewed wires, got the breaker reset, and the unit was running and cooled the house down in time for today's heat advisory. Just had the most unpleasant experience from Chrissy in their office. I called inquiring about an estimate for a couple pieces of equipment. I told her I wasn't personally familiar with their company and had a few questions. This is for my elderly family member so I was looking for kindness and patience, which she failed to deliver. Their ability to service after the installation was equally important, so I was curious as to how many techs they had on staff to see how big of an outfit they were. Well, apparently that was a sensitive question for Chrissy, when she paused and proceeded very rudely to ask what does that have to do with installation? When we purchased our house in 2016 I was excited to notice a fairly new (2007) boiler. Unfortunately it began to give us some issues so we called Pompetti for a skim to see if that would solve some of the problems. Within about five seconds of seeing the boiler, the technicians said they couldn't skim it, it was installed incorrectly, and they were going to treat the visit as a free estimate. When asked why we called, they decided to take a closer look inside, took pictures, and showed us that the tank was corroded. The unit was failing and most of the steam was going right up our chimney. They explained how the unit was installed incorrectly and mentioned that the correct layout was probably right in the installation guide that came with the unit.
