Pronto Lock & Key

Lost the keys for a 2006 Kia Spectra and it sat on my driveway for months. Finally got some extra cash and gave Pronto a call. They had a tech at my house within an hour. Once he arrived, I had a brand new set of keys within 15 minutes. The whole process was very easy and convenient, but I did not like the price. $330 for a car that old with a basic key is outrageous! My fault for not shopping around, but I doubt they’d offer a quote beforehand, wouldn’t be good for business I imagine.

Unfortunately, someone tried to jimmy the lock at one of my businesses. I phoned and spoke to a gentleman (I believe he's the owner) who quoted me $29 for a technician to come out. The technician phoned shortly after and arrived quickly... so far, so good. Once on site the technician stated the lock needed to be replaced and he would change and rekey... for $429 ‼️ Yes you've read that correctly. Immediately, I said "no, I'm not paying that kind of money for a lock" and then stated I would simply pay the service fee and find someone else. Instantly the price dropped to $250. I again stated "no" and we can find someone else. The technician then phones the owner who asked what I wanted to pay... I stated "I want to pay a reasonable rate." In my mind $150 was reasonable. Got locked out of my house for the first time. Called pronto, and someone came out in about 20 mins. After barely 5 mins of work the lock was picked and I was back inside. Final price $325. I guess I should have gotten a quote beforehand.

I called the number, a guy told me the price is $25 per visit, and $25+ for the labor, depending on the complexity.The tech arrived after 25mins. She used a couple of airjack pressure things and a wire thing and finished the job efficiently in 5 mins. The final receipt came out $150.
