Republic Parking (American Plaza Parking Garage)

The locking mechanism (near the statues on 2nd South) for the "AP1 Lofts" access (East entrance) has been removed, or is non-functioning and is the only access point with a 24/7/365 elevator OR you can walk in from 300 South. Sometimes the other elevators are locked after 6:00 p.m., sometimes they're not. March 14th on a Friday they weren't, April 8th Tuesday they were. I would suggest taking the extra time to back-into a stall. There are plenty of compact and subcompact stalls. If you need a larger/longer stall for a van or a truck or suburban type vehicle, there are 12 such stalls on the north side. Not the most easily accessible, via foot traffic parking structure. Perfect spot for parking for access to Capitol theater, Eccles theater, Salt Palace and so on.

If I could give less than 1 star I would! This parking garage is a total joke! We needed parking for Capitol Theater and found this parking garage. I should have known it would be too good to be true. Unfortunately I didn't check the reviews before paying for our parking reservation. We ended up driving around all the dead ends a few times while finding absolutely no available parking spaces and then drove out of the place and luckily found a free parking spot on the street! I would not recommend this parking garage to anyone!

Horrible experience. All the elevators were locked on a Thursday night at 7:30, so we had to walk an extra 15 minutes around the building, down the single lane vehicle entrance, and around the twisting structure path down to the second level. Very dangerous. Would never recommend parking here.

Parking layout is very tight (stalls tight too) w/ lots of dead ends. Elevators were locked, so everyone walked out through the 1-lane car ramp. Not very safe. Rates on their website was not reflective of what I was charged. I was charged the full day rate ($10), when I was parked there for less than 4hrs. Should've been charged the 4 hour rate. Would not recommend. 👎

The garage is really tight and cramped, with confusing signage that just as often sends you down the wrong way. Plus, $25 for a lost ticket, which I think is steep. It's really an unpleasant place to park with ridiculous pricing, and there are two much better, more professional parking garages just a block or two East. This is a small place that kind of treats you like they'd rather you just didn't go there. So I won't, anymore!
