Joe was great to work with — excellent communication from start to finish. He brought in black dirt and did a fantastic job leveling everything out so it was perfectly ready for seeding grass. In October 2025 we hired Rydell Excavating to clear trees and provide access to the local gravel road at a 5-acre lot in Star Lake Township. The work included taking down about 20 50-foot-tall pine trees and laying them out so I could easily take off the limbs and root balls. After that they stacked the logs carefully for drying per my direction. Then they peeled topsoil off the surface of the drive and entry area, and brought in gravel which they used to construct the drive as well as install a required culvert in the road ditch. They also mulched large piles of leftover pine branches and root balls and spread the mulch across the lot for us. I had a crazy idea this late fall to have a lake back lot prepped for a large shed. I called Rydell Excavating to inquire how busy they were. We had already had frost and had a short window coming of milder weather. This land had a considerable slope, and was unsure of the hoops I’d have to jump through with the county and township to obtain their approvals to proceed. I then met with Rydell Excavating and they walked me through the process and answered many questions.
