San Antonio Water System

SAWS knew about a water leak on my property starting December 11th but did not notify me until after December 29th. That’s nearly three weeks of continuous leaking that I would have shut off immediately if I had been informed. When I called to ask for a discounted rate due to the delayed notification, I was told that leak notifications are only a “courtesy” and that I am still responsible for the full bill or must go on a payment plan. It’s frustrating that SAWS holds a monopoly on water service in San Antonio, yet offers no accountability when they fail to notify customers in a timely manner. Being forced to pay for three weeks of wasted water that I didn’t even know about (it was underground) is unacceptable customer service

From the school of “if it ain’t broke, SAWS hasn’t touched it” come “new and improved” water meters. The SAWS installation goons managed to create a leak, but on my side the meter; therefore, SAWS denies culpability.  Simply, SAWS is the number one reason not to move to SAT, or the best reason to move away.  In the nicest terms possible, I hate SAWS.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 and corporations are charging $3.31 for late fees on a one cent error....SUCH GREED. I made a one cent error when paying my SAWS water bill. I was ONE CENT short. My hand must've mistyped. I have always paid on time for the last nine years. They decided to tack on a late fee. I've now been on the phone over half an hour on hold to get this fee waived, but my time is not valuable apparently. The employee sounded like a robot with no empathy. Unrelated to the fee, our water was turned off for 6 hours yesterday and 3 hours the day before.. San Antonio Water System, you SUCK. A medical issue was barely avoided due to not having access to water. It might only be $3.31, but it made me so mad at the small amounts of corporate greed that just add up.

I continue to receive leak notifications, and the one that came through this morning occurred when no one was home. To be sure, I walked through the house and checked all areas—no toilets running, no laundry (again, no one was home to run any), and no sink leaks. I believe SAWS needs to send someone out to check the meter, as this has been a recurring issue since its replacement. A major leak was initially discovered due to the meter being replaced, and the ongoing notifications are concerning. I have requested assistance multiple times, yet no action has been taken by SAWS beyond continued alerts of high usage when no one is home. This company is a monopoly in SA so of course this message will go unanswered but here it is all the same. (It was also sent directly to SAWS)

Ah yes, SAWS. We will go install something on your water meter, not do it correctly. Then tell you its your responsibility when your water starts leaking cause the pipes came undone....lovely. 0 starts if that were an option
