Savannah Stone Stairs Of Death

My girlfriend and I made the daunting 2 hour and 22 minute commute from Jacksonville, FL to Savannah, GA just to see the infamous Stone Stairs of Death. Yes, the one from all the books and movies. They do exist. The journey to the SSoD included stopping at a Buc-ees, two different Piggly Wiggly’s, and a Food Lion for necessary supplies. I now know how Ferdinand Magellan, Neil Armstrong (allegedly), Ben Gates, and Captain Jack Sparrow felt when they were on their respective quests. My heroes. As I walked up to the Stone Stairs of Death and looked down, I felt what I can only imagine it would feel like to be the first modern human to look upon the lost city of Atlantis. It was a descent of seemingly infinite steps that, if I was on the other end, would look like a stairway to heaven. Persp

While a good short cut to get to the river, I find the name of these stairs hilarious, as many of the stairs in europe aren't this good!

Great Savannah historic location. Definitely wish the city would pressure wash & clean it more, but it’s a must when visiting!

Do not walk on any of these staircases from Bay St up or down to the River. They are all too old for use; shallow depth, uneven heights, tilting! Yes, they’re historic but they’re stairs of accidents and deaths. Do you want to get hurt on your vacation? Find another way up or down! Please be careful. Also use considerable caution on the cobblestone streets.
