Scenic Overlook

I have been coming to this viewing spot since the 1990s. I even watched the Twin Towers collapse from here on 9/11. There have always been very few people utilizing this beautiful overlook outside of summer days. It's beautiful any time of year to look at the city or the beach or watching sunset and moonrise

Nice, quiet spot surrounded by untamed nature, with a cool view of New York City across the water in the distance. From the nearby parking lot, just walk past the ruined fort walls of Battery Peck to reach the access path. You'll have to walk in a sandy trail to reach this overlook point. The platform is made of wood and a short two-story flight of stairs to the top, so obviously not handicapped accessible. Dog friendly. Worth the detour if you made it to the fort and lighthouse.

Beautiful 360 degrees views from Battery Peck observation deck (including NYC skyline). Bench on the deck was much appreciated after hike through sand dunes.

We came here to look at the scenery. The place has a wonderful view of the Verrazzano bridge. It was easy to imagine how great emotions the settlers who arrived from Europe felt when they sailed past this towards New York and the Statue of Liberty. I recommend bringing binoculars or a superzoom camera, otherwise the details of the landscape will be quite small. Based on the guide boards, there are quite a lot of different bird species in the area.

Really amazing views of the city. Great bike trails and beaches.
