The workmanship seemed fine and he seemed upfront and able at the outset. But when he demanded payment the very moment he completed the work (while trying to get out of finishing laying down decking that he had written into his very intimidating contract), we knew we wouldn't be using him again. (One of his guys rudely yelled at me "just pay the bill!"). Two years later, the deck is sinking and we called another contractor to find out why. My suspicion was that Sclafani's guys used old rotting boards I had set aside instead of the new boards I had stacked up for them (again, why???). But the reason our deck is sinking became quickly clear -- he didn't add a support beam under them, leaving 30" between studs instead of 16". Wouldn't recommend.

Russ and his team were courteous, flexible in scheduling, prompt in arriving, and most importantly, complete quality work. They completed a customized safety railing with spindles down our staircase which not only provides extra safety for our soon-to-be walking daughter, the beautiful and meticulous craftsmanship elevates our entire hallway. I will be using Sclafani Builders for all my future home improvement projects!
