Sears Appliance Repair

The service man was good, hence the five stars, but having to pay a fee when I have an appliance policy rubs me the wrong way. For years, service calls were part of the coverage with no more additional charge. Recently, that has changed. My oven had nearly caught fire because a sensor went haywire. I unplugged it and it reset and when tested did not show up as faulty. The electronic board could not be replaced as my range is getting on in age and the part is no longer made. I'll have to take a picture if it tries to catch fire again in order to get the range replaced--which my policy allows for if it can't be repaired. (Who thinks to take photos when you're afraid your house may burn down from an overheating oven?) I doubt I will take out the policy again when mine runs out and I don't in

Technician came out 11/22/24 to repair my dryer. He was in his personal car had nothing but hand tools with him, he borrowed my can of pb blaster and sprayed pulley, told me it was good 2 days later started same noise. Paid him 141 dollars. Would not recommend!

We requested service for a microwave, and we're told the quoted price INCLUDED any parts. When the service person came, he said parts are in addition to the service call. The problem seemed to be on the control board and an intermittent issue. A few days later we confirmed this when the microwave malfunctioned again. Because we are selling the house, and have moved out of state, we ended up replacing the microwave. We sent a message to Sears, but got no response. Then they sent us a solicitation to purchase a service plan for 1 year for just under $200, after wasting $249 on a service call, then paying for a new microwave. We will not use Sears again

Had a repair scheduled 1 week in advance. As this is a vacation home. Tech called at 10:30 said he was 2 hrs out. At 1PM got a text that he was broke down and might not get to me today. Crickets from there on…contacted the scheduler and they offered me 10% off if I signed up for their maintenance program and an appointment 7 days later. Would give zero stars if I could….would not recommend! Ask around find a local guy. Watching YouTube and ordering parts on Amazon probably a better alternative to Sears.
