I would highly recommend Rob at Southeast Iowa Masonry. Our chimney was in dire need of repair. There were 3 colors and textures of brick and he was able to find matches. He even moved some of the original brick to mix them in with the new brick and dealt with a steep and difficult roofline. He was right on with the estimate and was a great communicator. He was determined, and successful, in using his skills to make the repairs appear seamless and maintain the character of the chimney. Would hire him again.

Rob Owen (Southeast Iowa Masonry) has done stone and brick repointing work on both the exterior and interior of our historic house. Most recently he rebuilt one of our chimneys that had badly spalled bricks. Rob is personable, reliable, contentious, and communicative. He kept us informed on when he was coming and going and exactly what he was doing. He is skilled and knowledgable with historic mortar and masonry. I highly recommend Southeast Iowa Masonry.

I highly recommend Southeast Iowa Masonry. My house is 100 years old and the brick stair wings on the front of the house were in very bad shape needing restoration. Rob was very friendly and knowledgeable answering all my questions. The quality of his work was top notch and he did an amazing job matching the colored mortar to the rest of the house!

Rob (Southeast Iowa Masonry) did an outstanding job repairing and capping our chimney under very difficult circumstances. He was very professional keeping us informed every step along the way. He is not only technically adept, but is truly an artist. Although he had to replace old brick and mortar with new, Rob made the chimney look great. He was extraordinarily careful and was conscientious about cleaning up the work area. He even came back and cleaned up some debris that had fallen through the chimney. We would hire Rob again in a minute for any masonry job. We are lucky have someone of his ability working in Iowa City.

Rob is one of the cleanest contractors I've worked with, not to mention all around pleasant person to work with. Masonry is a messy business and Rob would put down tarps and clean the site every night. Rob stayed on the job until it was done, worked quickly, and paid attention to details. He was also really creative in helping find ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality. We had Rob repair a brick facade on our house (complete tear down and rebuild) and then lay stone on a hearth for a new wood burning stove. 10/10 would hire Rob again for any masonry job.
