Str8line Fence and Deck Company

If I could give Str8line Fence and Deck Company no stars or even a negative star I would do that. Kurt Kontor built a new deck for us, but the stairway is steeper than expected. We ordered and paid for a second set of rails so it is safe. He cashed the check the day we sent it to him and he said he would install the rails as soon as they came in. That was in April of 2023 and after many excuses as to why he couldn't get to our house he stopped all communication. He has been summoned by the court to pay the money and yet, he still refuses to give us back the money he STOLE from us. Avoid this company at all costs!!! Put a "DO NOT CROSS" ribbon across this business driveway! Do not enter into a contract with Kurt Kontor or str8line with any expectation of a professional relationship. He did not follow any stated timelines and has failed to send me a court ordered refund on deck rails I paid for over one year ago. He has not responded to texts or emails for months. Definitely not Nebraska values or ethic. Based on his past integrity a person can find many other worthy companies to complete their deck or fence than Kurt and str8line.

Str8line Fence put metal railings on our deck and widened our stairs to accommodate the new railings. The owner was very responsive throughout the process. We originally hired another company that never showed up to do the work and after waiting 8 months we called Str8line Fence and we are glad we did. We now have a zero maintenance deck and we couldn’t be happier with the resists. I would definitely use this company again for future projects.

The initial evaluation and estimate of the work we requested on our existing deck went very well. We submitted our signed acceptance and initial deposit (over 75% of the bid) in a very timely manner. The work on our deck was initially scheduled for the week of June 15th - but due to some rainy days, that date was pushed back. We could understand a slight delay, but the work was not started on our project until the week of July 20th - 6 weeks past the initial date. The most unprofessional part of the project start date was there was NO COMMUNICATION on the part of Str8line. We had to call them several times to ask when they were planning on starting. August, 2019, Str8line installed a 6 ft cedar privacy fence around my double lot and built a 16 x 16 composite deck. This is the first time I'd ever hired a contractor. My husband, who had recently passed away, had done all of the work on our property. After giving them 60% down, I had to beg for 3 months for them to start. While the deck was a composite floor, they used no composite trim. They used planks from the fence to enclose the area under the deck and on the step from the upper level to the lower level. I had several people tell me it looked like a do-it-yourself weekend job and not a professional job.
