Temple Street Garage/Office

A convenient parking garage in downtown New Haven. This particular garage is near lots of restaurants, bars and theaters. Every time I have used it, I felt safe. In most cases I have used it, we get to pre-pay which is convenient. Some restaurants may also validate your parking so check ahead of time.

Update: I was able to receive a refund for what I paid online. I would still advise against using the app, and just plan to pay when you exit the garage. Original post: DO NOT PREPAY FOR PARKING. They do not honor the special event parking advertised by College Street Music Hall. We ended up getting charged twice as a result. The only good thing about this location is that it is less crowded and easier to exit than the Crown Street Garage.

Famous garage designed by Paul Rudolph (1918-1997). From the outside it looks like a giant concrete sculpture. There is a famous picture of Paul Rudolph standing on the top of the garage with his vintage Jaguar.

3.5 stars. This parking garage is part of the New Haven Parking Authority network. There are approximately 8,000 public parking spaces throughout the city. These parking areas would be in the form of surface parking lots, on street parking, and weather protected garages. The garages are usually patrolled by security guards. If you are parking on street or at the surface lots, there are meters; usually the fees can be paid via an app. At the garages, there are ticket booths, pull out a ticket, then pay once you leave. Temple Street Parking Garage was easy to find. It is located near shops and restaurants. I parked there for a Yelp event at the NOA restaurant.
