The Big Blue Deck

The Big Blue Deck is everything you’d expect from an overpriced airport parking garage. The moment you roll in, your wallet is already $6 lighter—for the privilege of staying up to an hour. Parking is plentiful, as long as you don’t mind entering through what feels suspiciously like an “out” lane just to reach the long‑term section where the open spots actually are. Honestly, the whole layout feels engineered to mislead drivers into looping around like confused lab rats, racking up extra charges along the way. Miss your exit by one minute? Congratulations—that’ll be $18.

Beware. Security is an issue parking here. It should not be for the cost. Our car was vandalized. Reason unclear but it appears an attempt to steal parts from the side mirrors. Parking management were unhelpful. I’ve parked at long term lots on the airport in Houston TX many times with no issues. This is my second experience at DTW. Won’t use them again unless security is changed.

Why isn't there a garage map!? (Google "How a parking garage works.") The garage is nice and affordable. It's even better if you're interested in meeting other lost strangers who can't find there way in to the terminal from the garage AND can't find their cars on the way back. We wasted 20 minutes coming in and then 30 minutes trying to find our way out. We had photos of the parking signs near our car. We found the signs but not the car. We stood at the signs but the vehicle was inaccessible. We could see the car after using the key fob. I called the garage phone # and they only had one vehicle to send for help. Eventually the vehicle was found but you have to go to a higher level and back down again which wasn't easy with six bags (two at 50lbs, two 20lbs and backpacks.

Plenty of parking spaces. Navigating this parking garage is difficult. Trying to find an exit can be challenging. It's hard to find where you parked due to easily feeling turned around after exiting the bridge area. The prices are reasonable, especially for parking in a sheltered area.

Lot easier to find where to drop people off and pick them up now that they moved the terminal to a better location no so packed
