Beautiful location for bird watching and nature observing. There are several osprey nesting sites in the area. There is a gravel road that leads to the waterfront, which is a short hike by foot only. This area is steeped in history. There are several remains of the community that was once Thompsons Beach.
So this would be a great place to practice your wildlife photography. Lots of birds and you have a 360° view of everything! The platform is very nice. Be aware that if the tide is out, the boat ramp will be difficult / impossible to use. Parking here is limited, but it’s so remote that it wasn’t really a problem for me. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if it is raining a lot or has just rained a lot because the entrance road can flood (the bank is very close to the road)
On 05.02.24 we saw rail bird hunting right next to observation stand, heard another 8+ calling in the nearby wetlands. 8 ospreys, barn swallows collecting mud and building nests under platform, red winged black birds and a fewmarsh wrens.
Clean parking lot, nice nature and good beach acces after a little hike
Beautiful serene quite place to look and listen to the wildlife, early morning sounds. You can hear your own heart beat
