Tidewater Fencing Club

Tidewater Fencing Club is amazing. I took my 13 year old son there for an intro class and he loved it so much that we signed him up for the beginner's classes. I learned a lot about the art of fencing and it is significantly more complex than I ever imagined. It's a really cool place with knowledgeable instructors. I highly recommend.

This is a great extracurricular activity for kids! It's also a great activity for adults. My son had been going here for going on 2 years and I've been training for the better part of a year myself. The friendly coaches are WORLD CLASS fencers! Seriously... Weapons and equipment are provided for your beginner lessons, and equipment can be purchased new or used through the club. Used equipment is limited though. There are group and private lessons available. They go out of their way to make this club a community with both adult and family social nights. The adult one is usually at a restaurant and can include adult beverages. The family nights range from Nerf and table top gaming to movie nights. The club offers lessons and the instructors are great. They do a great job teaching children and adults alike. I recommend this club if you are new to fencing or new to the area and looking for a place to start up again. There is communal gear if you do not have your own.

My son started with them at age 12-18 when they used space at Virginia Wesleyan Coolge. Provided him with an excellent experience. Now he's 28 and back at their new location in Chesapeake. Love that it's a sport for all ages!
