UCSF Millberry Union Public Garage

Parking spaces here are way too small, and crowded. I get it's San Francisco, but parking is a pain. Some of us have chronic conditions doctors in the more edge parts of the bay area are not familiar with so we're forced to come here.

Ah yes, UCSF’s parking garage: where cutting-edge medicine meets late-stage capitalism. This garage is run by a third-party company that has clearly looked at a hospital perched on a steep hill with zero alternative parking and thought, “Perfect. No escape.” If you’re sick, weak, or literally undergoing life-saving treatment—congrats, you’re exactly their target demographic. The prices are obscene. If you’re a patient, they’re bad. If you’re not, they’re laugh-out-loud ridiculous. As a bone marrow transplant patient, I had to park here every day for nearly three weeks, bleeding money on parking while also dealing with the minor inconvenience of, you know, having a rare blood cancer. We had to park here to see a family member in the ICU because we are an emergency contact. Arrived at 6PM and had to stay past 8PM. We couldn't get parking validation on the way out because the info desk closes at 8PM. You would think the exit process should be able to accommodate those who stay past the guest services closing time and unable to get parking validation. Nope, we had to pay the premium price of $44. This is a seriously broken system. Yikes.

The most confusing and frustrating parking garage ever. Just to get to the doctor's office you have to transfer to two different elevators (3 if you are in a wheelchair). If it's your first time play very close attention to what color level you are on and what letter. We spent 20 minutes trying to find our car on the way out. They do have several places to grab lunch and a shop as the only reason I would park here. They also have valet parking but you will need to arrive very early to use it.

Zero stars if I could. They increased the rates to $31 for anything 0-2 hours!!!!! And $60 max. It's despicable to charge so much. It's greed at its worst. For a health system that just bought two whole hospitals and whose CEO and Chancellor are lining their pockets. Patients get some validation but if you're just visiting UCSF (like to go to the gym, or meet up with a friend who works there) you have to pay $31 MINIMUM!
