University of Iowa Hospitals

Quality health care is so important at a time when most individuals are living longer, and with that a dependence on a good health care team is more in demand. University of Iowa Health Clinic has a complex system, in my opinion, that delivers cutting edge responsive patient care from booking your appointment, updating information in my chart, directing you through a massive system of specialists who are responsive and patient centric. Thank you UIHC for being tops in Iowa.

Took father to emergency room. Got very good care there for broken neck. They moved him to john papajohn pavilion LL. Nothing was transferred from emergency ward which was up to me to provide. They finally got things worked out. Nurse station in the short stay unit were great. Ortho team was responsive to our questions. However I believe my dad was released too soon.

We arrived at the ER at 10:45AM. We were seen quickly and awaiting a MRI. They put us into a room in the psych ward to wait. They said it could be up to a 6 hrs wait. My son complained about how long of a wait we had so they moved him to the infusion center to "take better care of him". When he went to his MRI they weren't careful and he fell. Now he is bruised up and still sitting in the chair without any service. It is currently 7:35 and still waiting! Will update as evening goes on.

Stayed at the oncology ward and ICU here. All the staff are top notch. Most of the food on the hospital menu was good with a decent variety to choose from. Some of the rooms were small in the ICU and the pappa John pavilion but not terrible. They have a great library and museum and many different eating areas and a very nice gift shop.

My doctor put in a referral two weeks ago and I called a week ago they said a nurse will call you back. It’s week 2 and they have not called me back. Waist of time, I do not recommend this hospital!
