My furnace quit on 10/24 and I called Vincent's for service. The tech they sent was there for no more than 10 minutes, sited that there was a crack in the fireblock and was leaking CO2. The he went upstairs, removed the thermostat stating it wasn't up to codes. Did not offer to replace thermostat, never showed my partner proof that the fireblock was cracked OR the monitor showing it was leaking CO2. Simply informed him he shut it down and we needed a new furnace at around $4k. At first I panicked since I do not have $4k or anywhere near that for a new furnace. For over a week, I was sick with worry, trying for a 401K hardship withdrawal (that was denied), then attempted a loan (also denied). I then decided to get a second opinion.
