401 Chimney is a company I would recommend to anyone that wants a professional and reliable company to repair or rebuild their chimney. I purchased a house in Rhode Island which needed to have an interior chimney repaired to take care of a water leak in the house every time it rained. I found a local chimney repair company online after reading several 4-5 star reviews and getting two other quotes. The owner of the company wrote up a proposal and I signed it and paid a 50% deposit. Then I asked when can your crew start? His reply: “Next week and it will be just me, I work alone.” He showed up and proceeded to drill bricks out of the chimney for half a day then did the same the next day, leaving our chimney looking like Swiss cheese. We recently had a once-in-a-lifetime situation that brought everything to a halt. A large bird managed to fall into our chimney, and it was alive, crying for help. We contacted several companies to save the bird, and finally, we found the most responsive one—401 Chimney. They came to our rescue. Within a few hours of our call, Jason arrived and quickly assessed the situation. He safely removed the bird! We are new to the wood burning stove and the newer houses that are buttoned up tight air-wise. I called and talked to a very knowledgeable and professional about what I perceived to be a blockage in the piping; he explained the science of air flow in these newer homes and the process of getting everything working was quite easy (and free). John is a great worker. He shows up when he says he is coming. Cleans up after he is done. He has done a lot of work for me and my friends and the company I work for.

John and his crew did a great job repainting and sealing my chimneys! My house was built in 1883 and my chimneys are about 65 feet up so there was a lot of preparation and planning in order to do it properly. They were professional and absolutely knew what they were doing. John was surprisingly knowledgeable about the diffrent bricks and chimney styles here in Newport.
