just met Richard Brown at his store. had a lovely conversation. what a wonderful man with a family business. hard to find these days. thanks Mr. Brown!

Simon Hardware sent me here for a 5” door latch. Getting here they opened the door half way and carried the conversation in the doorstep for about 45 seconds, asking if it’s residential, because they only serve commercial. Really? This is a piece of hardware, residential or commercial application it is, that’s unrelated. I guess they have enough orders online, don’t want to be bothered with the foot traffic from the street.

Came in to get copies of keys made and purchase a few combination locks and the guy was incredibly rude and practically told me that he didn’t have time to assist me in getting the correct key... He seemed annoyed and was taking it out on me. I was in the store for 6 minutes for something that would have taken less than 10 minutes to do. I would have gladly come back at later time if needed. The store wasn’t busy and only had one other customer.

Went there to get a few keys made and I was attended to immediately. My keys were made in a matter of minutes. An older man identified himself as the owner and an 'American Jew' and also mentioned that he has been there for close to 40 years. We started off having a good conversation BUT his racial under tones was unacceptable! There was no need for me to hear how 'Blacks or African Americans' had no business being in 'that area' in the 40's and how it was a 'taboo' and unacceptable if there were interracial marriages. This all after I mentioned that I was in an interracial marriage. Of course he said this with a smile on his face, so that I wouldn't get offended, but none-the-less, I was a little upset but kept a smile on my face and kept my cool. Extremely rude, not helpful. I suspect this business won't be around long if this is a typical experience. Called in to ask about a specific pivot hinge. I asked if they had it in stock and if I could come take a look at the hinge - I need a bunch of them for a tight-space application. Over the phone, the guy demanded I buy it before looking at it because he "didn't have time" for someone who wants to look. Guess I'll look and buy somewhere else.
