AirGarage | Public Parking

The process isn't difficult, but my group faced many $78 "violations" due to an (programming or administrative?) error on the part of AirGarage. AFAIK, they rescinded all related violations … but only after much distress to many people when this never should have happened in the first place. It's fine to use technology for an application such as this … IF you can get it right!

Checked in at 4:12pm staying at the hotel across the street. Scanned the code, got a text message telling me how to end my session when leaving and a timer started but I knew I'd be there overnight so expected to pay the full rate. The next morning, 8am, text message stating I didn't start my session and not only charge another full day rate but a convenience charge of $15.49. So, parked from 4:12pm - 11:30am, about $47. Thanks a lot.

Shake down ahead. So the future is now. The posted rate is fair and the garage seems well maintained. However there is no ticket machine, card reader, no attendant etc. This garage uses a smartphone app to pay for parking. I attempted to pay but the app said the parking was free. So imagine my surprise when I returned to my vehicle to find two "parking violation" notices. They can't afford an attendant to collect fees, but they can afford two people to hand out tickets. So I follow the link on the QR code on the violation and that worked flawlessly; two violation at $60 each... $120 to park in a garage that was almost empty with a posted fee of $8 a day. It should be posted that you have to pay as soon as you park. I thought I could pay before I left the garage, but when I returned to my car, there was a ticket for $78.00. That is the amount if I pay in 7 days. If I pay after 7 days, the price goes up to $88 dollars. Now I know that if I have to go to City Hall I won't EVER park there again. They need better signage to explain their policies.
