Joel just finished a big interior job at our home and executed it flawlessly! We had a bad experience with another painter and he was able to save the day to fix it all. He was thorough in his estimate with every detail for labor and material costs, his price was fair, and he showed up on time to get the job done. Most important, his communication was excellent - he really cares about the work that he does and his clients. That is almost to find these days! We would 100% hire Joel again or recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable painter in the area!

We had Joel come out to provide an estimate for painting our home. He responded quickly to that request coming over at the end of a very long work day for him. He presented as a a very capable and competent professional. He provided recommendations for colors, paint type etc and provided a full explanation of what he would be doing for surface prep and clapboard repair. Within days he provided a VERY fair price for the job. This was in the spring of 2024. We asked the inevitable question "when could you do the job". He stated that summer and fall of 2024 were all booked so we settled on spring of 2025. Joel seemed knowledgeable. He was close by , and available. This should have been my first warning as all other painting contractors I contacted were busy. Even before the start I could tell he was in over his head with this big job . He decided to sub the work to another without my knowledge or consent giving me no time to interview or ck references of the painters he hired . The house required very little prep but the prep that was done was poor. No sanding and priming that appeared to be done by a 3rd grader. What proceeded to happen after that was an almost daily case of me pointing out things that werent done, done poorly , or skipped. 1. Alchemy Painting painted the clapboards, trim, and doors of our home built in the early 1800s. The clapboards needed a lot of attention with old paint cracking. Alchemy Painting did an excellent job for us at a very fair price. They turrned up on time, kept us posted, and gave us good advice. Alchemy Painting also painted our 40 year old standing seam roof which had rusted areas and definitely needed attention. They had good technical knowledge when it came to the right primers and coats of finish paint that would last. All in all our experience with Alchemy Painting has to be reported at 5 star, a rating we rarely give.

In April 2023, as newcomers to Vermont, we initially hired a painter with seemingly excellent reviews to paint our home. Unfortunately, they took our money, left the project incomplete, and the work they did finish was subpar. Understandably, I was hesitant to hire another painter, but we are incredibly thankful that Joel and Alchemy Painting were recommended to us. Joel not only corrected the mistakes of the previous painter but also transformed our home with beautiful, meticulous painting. His attention to detail is unparalleled.
