Bareclay

Had an amazing private class at Bareclay. The instruction was extremely energetic with lots of positive reinforcement. Our instructor was very attentive to all six of us and would step in at just the right time to give projects a little “fix” and keep people motivated. We had all different skill levels in our group and everyone ended up with at least one piece they were very excited about (you get to fire and keep 2 per person). Everyone in our group had a joyous experience and even with only 1.5 hours, we were never made to feel rushed. If you have enough people interested, the private class options are very worth it for the overall price. We can’t wait to see how our pieces turn out!!

Local pottery studio, had a great time with the 3 session, 2 hour class learning how to use the wheel with Jamie, then learning how to trim and shape the clay with Sam, then learning how to glaze with Jaime once more. After this sequence, I signed up for open studio and it was lovely time all throughout as well, and Sam and other staff gave me wonderful pointers when I asked questions. The studio layout changes from time to time, always something new to see from the staff pottery to new student pottery. If you’re looking for something to do, I would recommend for solo-pottery, family and friends get-togethers, work outings, and date nights!

Went to a private group class with Sam. She was a great instructor and was patient with everyone. The studio is small but was plenty large enough for our group of 8. We did a 90-minute class and had time to do 4 projects (which you pick 2 when finished). They have classes weekly, open studio, and have private classes. Once you're finished, your projects can be picked up in 4 weeks. They do have aprons to wear. The parking lot is in front and on the side of the building.

If you grew up doing ceramics at the rec center and want a similar experience as an adult, this is the place to go! They are super chill about helping you modify on the fly to make sure you finish your session with at least one “keeper” - but you can also do your own thing. The setup is bare bones…this is not some bougie setup where nobody gets dirty because you’re just going to watch others work. So if you view that as a feature rather than a bug (as I do - this setup is perfect for me!), then this is the place to go!

Took a beginners class with my gf and really enjoyed getting to re-learn how to throw on a wheel. Instruction was clear and friendly, low-stress. They glaze and fire whatever you make for pickup later. They also have more in depth offerings and open studio hours. It did seem like the clay they were using was very grainy, but possibly that was to make it easier for beginners.
