Brooklyn Fencing Center

My kids absolutely love Brooklyn Fencing Center. My older one has been going for over two years, and the younger recently joined him. They look forward to every class, every camp, and every after school session. It has become a place where they have fun, learn discipline, and make real friends. One of the most heartwarming things to see is how the kids support each other, especially at competitions. The center really feels like a team, not just a training place. The coaches are amazing. This is the oldest fencing center in Brooklyn and it shows. Their training approach is thoughtful and unique compared to other places we’ve seen. Both of my kids love it here and they can't get enough. They have formed lasting friendships with not just the other kids but coaches Rolando and Sara as well. I loved that when my son first started there was no pressure to compete. When he caught the competitive bug they really helped him develop and tune his skills. Going to regionals has become fun weekend hangouts with the coaches and other families.

I highly recommend this place to go if your child isn’t a fan of the martial arts options on 5th ave and not into arts and crafts. It is a great sport to learn, discipline, focus and how to wield a foil :) The instructors are experts fencing and the head coach did make it to the international competitions. They are passionate about sharing the sport with the children and patient but firm with the children as well. There isn’t a reward system like many of the sports places here. The children genuinely love fencing and create unique friendships along the way at each of the skill levels. There are tournaments but it isn’t like a pat on the back sort of thing. You play for the sport and the genuine appreciation which is how the instructors teach - no candy, fake trophies or belts. I believe

My son loves training at Brooklyn Fencing Center. He takes lessons there several times a week and bouts at least once per week. He gets a lot of intense physical and mental exercise every time he practices there, and I believe it improves his focus, concentration and self-confidence. The coaches and staff are excellent. Brooklyn Fencing Center was the club that suit my training demands better when I started fencing. As an adult fencer the convenient hours and experienced coaches really helped me improve on my skills and level. Rolando Balboa is the best coach I have ever had, adapting lessons to my needs and pushing me gently enough to get to the level I aspired. I would recommend fencers at any level, whether fencing to compete or for personal fulfillment to make Brooklyn Fencing Center their main training and fencing spot.
