California Carpet

California Carpet in San Carlos has a very big selection of wool carpets. I was able to borrow samples to look at them at home with my furnishings and flooring. It was easy to place an order for carpets cut to size, select the binding and pads. The carpets were ready in about 15 days, delivered with care instructions. Everything was easy and Mel took the time to confirm the order and consult on selections. It was a positive buying experience in every way.

I have had a horrible experience with California Carpets! The salesman talked up "100% wool carpet" and it has been a nightmare since it was installed. For starters it sheds like crazy, even months after install. You have to use a very special expensive vacuum for the carpet which the salesman (MARK) NEVER told us. And now it's hard to believe but the carpet is damaged from a plastic chair cover we purchased to PROTECT the carpet! Believe it or not the plastic over the carpet created some sort of heat and condensation, so the carpet got wet and completely disintegrated. Who ever heard of wet carpet falling apart? And whoever heard of carpet not being treated so it can withstand some water? And no one EVER told us not to put a plastic chair cover on the carpet. We were trying to protect it

We would not recommend their service to any of our friends or family. We got our carpet installed on August 20, 2021. Their installer (1) did not glue the padding to concrete floor, even though we paid for such service, and (2) broke a transition piece, left a 1.5 inch gap in the floor. As of today (Jan 12, 2022), California carpet still has NOT fixed the two issues: (1) gluing my carpet padding to the concrete floor. The carpet SHIFTS when we walk on it and it SHIFTS when vacuum the carpeted area; (2) the transition piece between the carpet and hardwood floor that their installer broke, which left a 1.5” wide gap on my floor as shown in the attached photo.
